There are two things everyone shopping for a notebook computer want: more features and lower price. Today Acer announces a new notebook designed with those things in mind, what they call “an innovative notebook with 3D viewing technology. Featuring advanced display capabilities, high-definition graphics engine, premium Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor and Dolby® surround sound, the Aspire 5738DG delivers cinematic images that literally pop from the screen, while maintaining the performance and productivity features of a desktop replacement notebook.”

The Acer Aspire 5738DG will be priced starting at $779.99 and will include a host of features that will make it appealing to folks looking for a solid all-around notebook for general use, media and video, moderate gaming and more.

Of course, the big deal here is the non-hardware based 3D capability, which is dependent on a special screen coating and polarized glasses to make images ‘pop’ off the screen. That has gained much attention since early information became available earlier this summer, and will certainly be eagerly analyzed when the notebook is available this week.

Seamless 2D to 3D functionality

The Aspire 5738DG features the unique TriDef® 3D solution, which includes a 3D screen, software and glasses to enable vibrant 3D visuals. Not only does it handle 3D content with ease, but the Aspire 5738DG also takes 2D content and replicates a vivid 3D experience. It allows customers to easily switch from standard viewing applications like spreadsheets, documents and email to 3D enjoyment with a simple click of the mouse. The TriDef solution includes a simple and intuitive interface, which also allows customers to view 3D multimedia without the need for a special graphics card.

The notebook features a 15.6-inch Acer CineCrystal™ HD display coated with a special 3D film which clings to the panel pixel by pixel, enabling the LCD technology to deliver a 3D image. Users slip on a pair of included 3D polarizer eyeglasses, which filter 2D images to 3D, and enjoy eye-popping, true cinematic high def playback of movies, video and games. Customers can use the TriDef Media Player for playback of videos and photos in 3D, while the TriDef Ignition tool to enables 2D to 3D conversion for games and applications supporting DirectX 9 and above.

Beyond the notebook’s unique 3D capabilities, the Aspire 5738DG provides HD entertainment with a host of high-performance features. The Aspire 5738DG notebook’s integrated 802.11a/b/g/Draft-N wireless technology and Gigabit Ethernet ensures smooth and trouble-free emailing and web browsing. Netbook with Intel Atom processors are common. Rarely can we find that the processor netbook comes from Intel rivals, which is AMD Ion.

But Acer intends to give a surprise by presenting Ferrari F200 One, a 11.6 machine “that uses AMD’s latest mobile platform, the Congo. Like the previous Ferrari range, this netbook will carry exclusive design with the Ferrari logo was evident on the bodice. Netbook chassis is entirely made of carbon fiber, and of course the color will be red casing.

Ferrari F200 One is packed L310 Athlon X2 dual-core 1.2 GHz, 4GB memory, ATI Radeon HD3200, 160GB hard drive, and a port for connection to XPG external graphics. 1366×768 resolution screen presents with 16:9 format. For wireless connections and cable, available features Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and WWAN (optional). This netbook will use the specified operating system Windows 7 Home Premium or Basic.

Not yet known when the Ferrari F200 One will be rolled into the market. So any price information. But the estimated cost quite expensive, about U.S. $ 724.
